Writing practice Bearbeiten

http://10ct.co.jp/e_learning_new/learning/hiragana/

Hiragana table. If you click the hiragana, it gives stroke order, pronunciation and example words with which you can practice.

http://realkana.com/

A website for hira-/katakana reading practice, with tabs to indicate which kana rows you want to use (so you can gradually add the ones you've learnt) and which fonts you want to learn with. Has an app too.

http://www.hiraganaquiz.com/

A website to quiz your hiragana and katakana, splitting each set of kana up in 4 different blocks that you can practice separately or together.

http://kakijun.jp/en/

You can search for characters of which you want to know the stroke order (also works for kanji)

Tools Bearbeiten

http://www.whiteagle.net/

Converter for romaji-hiragana-katakana. You can type Latin or kana characters in the box, and it'll display what it looks like in all three. Downside: can't deal with complex katakana (e.g. パーティー).

Hiragana Megane

Allows you to insert a URL of any Japanese site, and will put furigana (small hiragana as reading-aid) on top of the kanji in the page.

Rikai-chan or Rikai-kun

Browser add-on for FireFox or Chrome respectively, that shows you the reading and translation of Japanese words upon hovering over them. Beware: overuse will encourage your laziness not to learn kanji.

Dictionaries Bearbeiten

Try out some of these dictionaries: depending on a single dictionary might be limiting! The more options you have, the better: cross-referencing also gives for better results sometimes.
